WHY MAGIC IS FORBIDDEN IN ISLAM?
Magic is real and it has been mentioned in Quran with word ‘ sahar ‘ in various verses. The knowledge of magic belongs to a higher dimension than knowledge of this causal universe i.e. knowledge of cause and effect.
Allah has decreed that as a Muslim you have to maintain this cause and effect relationship while you are here in this universe so that you confirm the order of Allah, make use of it, to protect this world in accordance to divine law so as to get better results. You are not here to break the order of things but rather to maintain this order. Generally magic implies breakup of this cause and effect relationship. For this humans have been given specific Names of Allah and humans have been ordered to call Allah through these names.
Allah has other names which have not been manifested or you are ordered not to use them. Knowledge called ‘ilm ‘ belongs to Allah name AL ALEEM but you do not read ‘al sahir’ as HIS name and thus is not mentioned in Quran. So magic happens with Allah permission but because this name has not been granted to you , you are not to access through this way, and thus it is forbidden.
Why?. if magic is superior to knowledge why prohibit it. There are multiple level of existence and though completely different from each other they are in balance with each.As there is a balance in this universe and true knowledge requires to maintain this balance, so magic has a balance between this level of universe and a higher level. If you use magic here the higher level is also drained or used up of which we have no knowledge and in this way we may contribute to destruction of higher level without realizing it.
