Honey is a traditional medicine and its importance enhanced in Muslim world as it was mentioned in Holy Quran, Surah An-Nahl, verse 68-69:
وَأَوْحَىٰ رَبُّكَ إِلَى النَّحْلِ أَنِ اتَّخِذِي مِنَ الْجِبَالِ بُيُوتًا وَمِنَ الشَّجَرِ وَمِمَّا يَعْرِشُونَ
ثُمَّ كُلِي مِنْ كُلِّ الثَّمَرَاتِ فَاسْلُكِي سُبُلَ رَبِّكِ ذُلُلًا ۚ يَخْرُجُ مِنْ بُطُونِهَا شَرَابٌ مُخْتَلِفٌ أَلْوَانُهُ فِيهِ شِفَاءٌ لِلنَّاسِ ۗ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَةً لِقَوْمٍ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ
( And your Lord (Allah) revealed to the bees: Build your hives in mountains, trees and in what they build. Then eat (for females) from every fruit and follow (for females) your Lord’s enslaved paths, from its bellies (بُطُونِهَا) exits drink of different colors, in it healing for man. These are signs for those who contemplate. )
Quran is Haqq, the truth and after reading this verse we should see every disease being treated with honey but this is not what we observe nowadays where honey is barely used as a medicine.
Now, there is nothing wrong with the verse but the problem lies with the people.
One group completely denies the verse and neither read it nor tries to understand it. These are true unbelievers. When they suffer from any illness they are quick to get disappointed and depressed. In their despair they use every means available to them for recovery but they do not turn to this verse.
From them a second group arises, who in there despair use all the natural sources and mimics them, mechanized them and bring about industrial revolution of medicine. The much hyped medicines with numerous side effects and limited efficacy brings about good business but at the cost of many human lives, drainage of earth resources and pollution of industrial revolution with destruction of eco system. They are the transgressors.
A third group completely believes in this verse but they read it in a simple and traditional way, completely satisfied with the verse and waiting it to become true itself. They take honey even if they don’t get well from it. These people have lagged behind and are regressors.
There is another group, a non-existent group, who read this verse and use their power of understanding and bring the meaning of this verse to become true in this world. They take it as their duty to make Quran come true in this world.
This means that they will make honey a healing for all diseases.
Now understand this. Bees are natural factories and have been ordered to extract the essence of all fruits and herbs, store it in their bellies, transform them and save it in there combs. The nature provides healing drugs for every illness in the form of herbs, fruit, and minerals. A man of understanding takes a herb, study its properties, cultivate it naturally and allow bees to do their work i.e. to feed on it and collect its essence and transform it into that specific honey, which then can be used for a particular illness. So for thousands of illnesses there are thousands of herbs, fruits and minerals and thousands of various honey can be prepared by bees if a true man of understanding helps to bring it all together.
What needs to be done is to have honey from each and every herb, fruit or mineral with all the essence enclosed in it, let the bees do their work, help them and their product will help you in case of illness.
No need to use and deplete earth resources rather it will increase, bees will not disappear but propagate, earth will not be polluted by industries rather will be more green , honey in various shades, color and properties available for every illness and in reality word of Quran made true. Do we see such a man of understanding, a true Muslim?
