أَفَرَأَيْتُمُ اللَّاتَ
MEANING
Allat- stands for lightening, bright, glistening, a shining object. Shine with flickering light. A pearl.
Due to its brilliance it negates the surrounding thus taken for no, refusal, denial. Thus this negation is not due to ignorance or lack of something but due to excess and brightness. Denial of an intellectual or a scholar or educated person.
It also represents descend and because of descend it progressively gets clear.
Because of high affinity, force of attraction other objects get around it and keep spinning around it.
INTERPRETATION
Quran: Surah Najm (star)
The verse in this surah which describes different stars and there behaviour. Now star is not only physical as we see in space, it is also non-physical as in your soul which shines inside you.
Humans are inherently idol worshippers and they like to give form, a physical form to their inner star. This outer form differs according to region and human development.
In the soul this brightness and brilliance is your idol. How much it is dear to you? You spend your life around it so much so that many other persons and sometime your own children keep going around you, following you and eventually they lose their own brilliance before yours. This shinning quality of soul is highlighted in this world and so called ” stars” are made, may it be in entertainment industry or an educational field. Initially this ” star” helps you to form a goal but if you stay long enough with it , it captures you and stop you from further development. Sooner or later you have to break free from its influence to break new grounds.
Islam demands that there should be no idol. Each individual is a separate being and should be given full access to everything needed for his development. No internal idols, ideals. No external idols of bygone peoples. People must accept islam. Break their inner idols, fixtures, and following. Break the external social restrictions which impede their growth.Freedom from all idols and submission to Allah only. Allah, who has no equal and no mithal (example).
