YAGOG AND MAGOG ( ياجوج ماجوج ) — PSYCHOPATHOLOGY
If humans keep on progressing like this , soon our world will be polarized into two groups:
- people with high demands but meager resources, asking for more and more, they will never be satisfied and will keep on asking and fighting the below mentioned group for more accessories, food and medicine.
- people with affluence, money, power and control. They will hold most of the world resources. They will fight for more resources and power and will try to subjugate the above group.
If you see these are two kind of behaviors which can also be witnessed nowadays, but with persistence this behavior becomes a way of life and slowly two distinct categories become obvious.
Quran has alluded to these groups as:
- Yagog ( ياجوج )
- Magog ( ماجوج )
There are two verses they have been mentioned in Quran:
حَتَّىٰ إِذَا فُتِحَتْ يَأْجُوجُ وَمَأْجُوجُ وَهُم مِّن كُلِّ حَدَبٍ يَنسِلُونَ [٢١:٩٦]
| Until the Gog and Magog (people) are let through (their barrier), and they swiftly swarm from every high place. |
This verse is in Surah Anbiya and thus it has been foretold and warned as one of the function of nabi is to warn his people from possible adversaries.
قَالُوا يَا ذَا الْقَرْنَيْنِ إِنَّ يَأْجُوجَ وَمَأْجُوجَ مُفْسِدُونَ فِي الْأَرْضِ فَهَلْ نَجْعَلُ لَكَ خَرْجًا عَلَىٰ أَن تَجْعَلَ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَهُمْ سَدًّا [١٨:٩٤]
| They said: “O Zul-qarnain! the Gog and Magog (People) do great mischief on earth: shall we then render thee tribute in order that thou mightest erect a barrier between us and them? |
Here the main problem which they will create is mentioned as fasad and one meaning of it is to stop, interrupt, to withhold. As this verse is in Surah Kahf only those will be saved who will separate themselves from both groups and keep low or hide in cave.
The underlying psychopathology of these two groups is not very different. Both have an increased need and desire. Both wants to have more. Both holds on to what they have. Although one group is in the side of production, the other is consumer. One is controller, other controlled. One rules, other being ruled. You can say that this has been going on from the very beginning of human history and it is true but realize that both groups are with holders. Both want to devour everything they have. One has all the reserve and power but it does not give it to other and even if it does so, it does with difficulty, fight and having some benefit from it. The other is bent upon to get more, even with fight and cost of there lives, it has to accumulate more.
Hence, you see initially yagog and magog were visible in two person, then two groups, then two nations and eventually two worlds. Both opposite but bind-ed by there internal need and desire.
Look at yourself, if you have this behavior change it, correct yourself ( الصلاة ), start giving ( الزكوة ), open the ways for other people and you will delay the appearance of yagog and magog in this world. And if you are one of two groups and do not rectify, the day of yagog and magog will be sooner here than we all expect.
